The first sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express is scheduled for unveiling on January 17, 2026, at Malda Town. This new service will feature two rakes operating between Kamakhya and Howrah on six days of the week, expanding the premium train service to overnight journeys.

All Bengaluru-originated routes pass through key junctions including Anakapalle, Duvvada, Pendurti, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram, Palasa, Brahmapur, Bhubaneswar, and Baleswar.

The reform announcement was made during a high-level meeting with Union Ministers of State and senior railway officials on January 8, 2026.
