The results were approved at the 88th Annual General Meeting held on September 22, 2026, in Srinagar. Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee highlighted that the growth was accompanied by sustained improvement in asset quality and operating efficiency.

The bank’s deposits grew by 11.30% to ₹1.65 lakh crore, maintaining a CASA ratio of 45.65%. Gross advances increased by 16.8% to ₹1.25 lakh crore. The momentum continued into the current financial year, with the bank crossing the ₹3 trillion total business milestone in June 2026.

Asset Quality and Efficiency
Asset quality improved significantly during the period. The Gross NPA ratio declined to 2.50% from 3.37%, while the Net NPA ratio improved to 0.64% from 0.79%. The Cost-to-Income ratio moderated to 56.18%, aided by a reduction in operating expenditure of around 4%. Return on Assets stood at 1.37%, and Return on Equity was 16.85%.
Capital adequacy strengthened, with the Capital Adequacy Ratio reaching a highest-ever level of 16.55% and CET 1 at 13.54%. This position provides capacity for sustainable expansion and preparation for the transition to the Expected Credit Loss framework.
What the Numbers Show
The simultaneous improvement in profitability (up 13.5%) and asset quality (GNPA down 87 bps) indicates that growth is not being driven by relaxed credit standards. Furthermore, the expansion of gross advances (16.8%) outpacing deposit growth (11.3%) suggests a tightening liquidity environment or increased deployment efficiency, though the strong CASA base of 45.65% mitigates immediate funding cost pressures.
Strategic Initiatives and Governance
Shareholders approved the raising of capital up to ₹1,000 crore through equity shares or convertible securities, subject to regulatory approvals. This resolution passed with 99.91% votes in favor. The meeting also noted the retirement by rotation of Director R. K. Chhibber and appointed Tsewang Tharchin as a rotational director.
Chairman Sankarasubramanian Krishnan emphasized the bank’s aspiration to build a ₹5 trillion business and achieve ₹5,000 crore annual profit by 2030. He stressed that digital transformation must enhance accessibility while maintaining human connection and cybersecurity resilience.
