KPI Green Energy Limited published the transcript of its investors and analyst earnings conference call held on August 12, 2026, at 11:00 am. The call discussed the unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1FY27). The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The transcript is available on the company’s website.
Financial Performance Commentary
Management provided detailed context for the Q1FY27 financial results. Consolidated total income stood at ₹710 crore, representing a 16% year-on-year increase from ₹614 crore in Q1FY26. EBITDA rose 21% to ₹262 crore from ₹217 crore, with EBITDA margins improving to 37% from 35%. However, profit after tax (PAT) declined to ₹95 crore from ₹111 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
The divergence between operating profit growth and net profit decline was attributed to higher depreciation and finance costs associated with a rapidly growing asset base. Management noted that cash profit, considered a better measure of underlying cash generation, grew 6% year-on-year to ₹176 crore from ₹163 crore. CFO Salim Yahoo emphasized that the full earning contribution of newly commissioned assets is expected to build through the remainder of FY27 as plants stabilize.

Operational Highlights and Portfolio Growth
The company’s renewable energy portfolio expanded significantly during the quarter. As of June 30, 2026, the total portfolio reached approximately 6.94 gigawatts, up 71% year-on-year from 4.06 gigawatts. This comprises an installed capacity of 1.87 gigawatts and work-in-progress capacity of 5.07 gigawatts. Of the total portfolio, 2.57 gigawatts is under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) segment and 4.37 gigawatts under the Captive Power Plant (CPP) segment.
Unit generation under the IPP portfolio grew nearly four times year-on-year, with Q1FY27 generation exceeding 65% of the entire FY26 generation. Management stated that the expanding IPP portfolio is expected to generate more than 390 crore units annually at full run rate. The company also strengthened its execution enablers, with a strategic land bank of 8,657 acres and power evacuation capacity reaching 5.10 gigawatts.
Strategic Projects and International Expansion
KPI Green Energy highlighted progress across several key projects. In battery energy storage, the 565 megawatt / 1,130 MWh Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) has been executed, with financial closure underway. In floating solar, the company is actively executing a 142-megawatt EPC order at Kadana Dam, Gujarat. A 150-megawatt wind project for GUVNL has achieved financial closure, while PPA signing for a 300-megawatt SJVN-backed wind project is in process.
Internationally, KPI signed a memorandum of understanding with the Botswana government for 5 gigawatts of renewable energy, with planning for the first 500-megawatt phase underway. Management confirmed that 500 hectares of land have been acquired in Botswana, though no revenue contribution is expected in the current fiscal year. In the UAE, execution is underway for a solar power project integrated with battery storage for a containerized data centre facility, awarded to subsidiary Sun Drops Energia Limited.
Management Changes and Governance
The Board appointed Kapil Kriplani as Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel, effective August 11, 2026. Kriplani succeeds Salim Yahoo, who resigned citing personal family emergencies. Kriplani brings over 21 years of experience, having previously served as Senior Vice President - Finance & Global Head Treasury and Taxation at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited.
Prof. Sunil Kumar Maheshwari was inducted as Vice-Chairman, and Rajesh Shrivastava was appointed as Whole-Time Director. The Board also approved MSKC & Associates LLP, a member of BDO International, as Statutory Auditors for a five-year term from the conclusion of the 18th AGM until the 23rd AGM in 2031.
What the Numbers Show
The sharp rise in the debt-equity ratio to 1.84 from 0.46, combined with the decline in PAT despite EBITDA growth, underscores the capital-intensive nature of KPI Green Energy’s shift towards IPP projects. Management indicated that long-term debt-to-net worth could reach a maximum of 3:1 as existing loans for larger projects are fully recognized. While top-line momentum remains strong with 16% revenue growth, the pressure on net margins suggests that earnings visibility will depend on the timely stabilization of new assets to service increased leverage.
