Segment-wise analysis

Motorcycle volumes rose to 126,479 units from 114,002 units in August 2025. Domestic sales reached 114,204 units, up from 102,876 units a year ago. International business contributed 12,275 units, growing 10% from 11,126 units in the same period last year.

In the commercial vehicle segment, Eicher Motors sold 8,434 units in August, up from 7,167 units in the same month last year. The figure cleared the analyst estimate of 8,400 units, indicating improved traction in heavy and medium-duty vehicle markets.

VE Commercial Vehicles breakdown

VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), an unlisted subsidiary of Eicher Motors, provided a detailed segment-wise breakdown for August 2026. Total Eicher trucks and buses (inclusive of EVs) stood at 8,162 units, up 17.9% from 6,924 units in August 2025. When combined with Volvo Trucks & Buses sales of 272 units, the total VECV volume reached 8,434 units, representing a 17.7% year-on-year growth.

Domestic VECV sales were the primary growth driver, rising 19.8% to 7,584 units from 6,331 units a year ago. This was led by a sharp 29.0% surge in Small Commercial Vehicle/Light Medium Duty (SCV/LMD) trucks, which climbed to 4,623 units from 3,585 units. Heavy Duty (HD) trucks also grew 13.0% to 1,960 units. However, HD bus sales contracted 29.3% to 82 units.

Export volumes for VECV declined slightly by 2.5% to 578 units, down from 593 units in August 2025. While SCV/LMD exports grew 9.0%, HD exports fell 39.7%.

Year-to-date figures for FY27 show continued momentum. Total VECV sales reached 41,490 units as of August 2026, up 15.6% from 35,892 units in the corresponding period of FY26. Domestic YTD sales grew 16.8% to 37,926 units, while exports dipped 2.4% to 2,498 units.

Product launches and brand initiatives

Royal Enfield launched the Classic 350 Gorkha Edition in India and Nepal, featuring distinctive Gorkha Green finish. The company also introduced feature updates to the Continental GT 650, including new LED trafficators and USB Type-C charging. Additionally, the Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle crossed 50,000 customer-driven kilometers in Bengaluru.
