CoreWeave, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRWV) shares rose nearly 4% to $83.84 on Wednesday, driven by the announcement of its new multi-rack NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 clusters. The broader market also advanced, with the Nasdaq up 0.65% and the S&P 500 gaining 0.28%.
The rally reflects renewed investor interest in artificial intelligence infrastructure stocks. CoreWeave remains below several key moving averages, trading 3.9% below its 20-day simple moving average of $87.20 and 2% below its 50-day SMA of $85.45.
Scaling agentic AI with multi-rack clusters
CoreWeave announced the bring-up of multi-rack NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 clusters on CoreWeave Cloud. The infrastructure unifies hundreds of Rubin GPUs into a single scale-out cluster for agentic AI workloads. Chen Goldberg, executive vice president of product & engineering at CoreWeave, stated that connecting hundreds of Rubin GPUs as a single cluster provides greater scale and faster iteration for customers building agentic AI.
A single NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 rack pairs 72 Rubin GPUs with 36 Vera CPUs, NVIDIA NVLink 6, NVIDIA ConnectX-9 SuperNICs, and NVIDIA BlueField-4 DPUs. Multi-rack configurations use NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking to unify racks of hundreds of accelerators into one coordinated system. This setup supports larger AI models, demanding inference workloads, and reinforcement learning at scale.
CoreWeave manages the infrastructure through:
- Automating rack life cycle control via CoreWeave Mission Control, which coordinates hardware detection, firmware updates, validation, power, and cooling.
- Validating performance from components to systems using NVIDIA field diagnostics and full-rack workload testing before production deployment.
- Scaling the network with the GPUs, providing 1.6 Tb/s of connectivity per GPU across multiplane, multirail paths supporting roughly 128,000 GPUs per rail in a non-blocking fabric.
Keeping AI data close to compute
CoreWeave also introduced two new capabilities in CoreWeave AI Object Storage: cross-region write acceleration and a new Archive tier. These features aim to keep data close to GPUs and reduce latency for training and inference jobs.
CoreWeave AI Object Storage LOTA (Local Object Transport Accelerator) delivers reads at local NVMe speeds, reducing latency by 8x compared to traditional storage clusters. It provides up to 7 GB/s of throughput per GPU.
New storage capabilities include:
- Cross-region write acceleration: Checkpoints are written locally while data is migrated to a second remote region in the background, eliminating cross-region write latency.
- Archive tier: A lower-cost storage tier for long-term retention with no fees for retrieval, early deletion, or reading from the archive.
Cécile Robert-Michon, director of internal infrastructure at Cohere, noted that the unified dataset footprint allows teams to train without waiting on network delays.
Performance benchmarks
CoreWeave cited record-breaking MLPerf benchmark results in inference and training. The company holds the top Platinum ranking in both SemiAnalysis ClusterMAX 1.0 and 2.0. It also ranked #1 for inference speed and price-performance for Moonshot AI’s Kimi K2.6 and Kimi K2.7 Code models in independent benchmarking by Artificial Analysis.
Technical analysis and analyst outlook
Despite Wednesday’s rally, the stock remains below longer-term indicators. CRWV is 13.1% below its 100-day SMA of $96.38 and 9% below its 200-day SMA of $92.02. The relative strength index stands at 46.14, a neutral reading suggesting the stock is neither overbought nor oversold.
The moving-average setup is mixed. The 20-day SMA remains above the 50-day SMA, offering a near-term bullish signal. However, a death cross formed in July when the 50-day SMA fell below the 200-day SMA. Bulls will likely watch the $85 to $87 area. A sustained move above that range could improve the near-term technical picture. Resistance sits near $94.50, while support is near $79.
The stock carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $145.44 across 49 analysts. Forecasts range from $74 to $250. Recent analyst actions include Truist Securities maintaining a Buy rating and raising its price forecast to $165 on Aug. 24. Goldman Sachs maintained a Neutral rating and raised its forecast to $139 on Aug. 21. Citigroup maintained a Buy rating and raised its price forecast to $159 on Aug. 14.

How might CoreWeave's new multi-rack NVL72 clusters impact its competitive positioning against other AI infrastructure providers like Lambda Labs or AWS in the agentic AI market?
Will the introduction of the Archive tier and cross-region write acceleration significantly reduce total cost of ownership for enterprise customers, thereby driving higher adoption rates?
Given the stock remains below key moving averages despite a Buy consensus, what specific technical or fundamental catalysts are needed to break through the $85-$87 resistance zone?
