Tata Power has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for the acquisition of Ryapte Power Transmission Limited, a project special purpose vehicle (SPV). The project will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis to provide transmission services for 35 years from the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD). REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited.
The scope of the project involves constructing an approximately 250 km line route comprising a 400 kV D/C line, 220 kV D/C line, and 220 kV Underground cable. Additionally, the project includes establishing two greenfield substations: a 5x500 MVA, 400/220 kV AIS substation at Ryapte in Tumkur District and a 3x500 MVA, 400/220 kV GIS substation at Doddathaggalli near Hosakote. The annual transmission charges for the project are ₹521.07 crore.
Project Infrastructure Details
The transmission infrastructure will be developed across specific regions in Karnataka. The line construction includes a 400 kV D/C line from Ryapte AIS Substation to the proposed 400/220 kV Doddathaggalli GIS substation, and another 400 kV D/C line from the existing Kolar substation to the proposed Doddathaggalli GIS substation. The 220 kV components include a D/C line from the proposed Doddathaggalli GIS substation to existing substations at Ekarajapura, Hosakote, and Sarjapura, along with underground cables connecting Doddathaggalli GIS substation to these locations.
