Hero MotoCorp celebrated the 10th anniversary of Hero MotoSports Team Rally at its Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, marking a decade of global rally racing excellence. The company announced a strategic extension of its partnership with Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) for 5 years to secure long-term collaboration in the Dakar Rally and FIM World Rally-Raid Championship. Additionally, the company launched the 'India's Next Dakar Hero' (INDH) program to discover and develop the next generation of Indian rally-raid talent, and inducted 18-year-old racer Shlok Ghorpade into the team.
The event was attended by key racing figures, including 2024 FIM World Rally-Raid Champion Ross Branch, alongside team architects Wolfgang Fischer and Jordi Grau. Dr. Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp , emphasized that the renewed partnership with ASO strengthens the company's commitment to global rally racing. He stated that the INDH program reflects a belief in India's untapped motorsports talent, aiming to build a sustainable pathway for homegrown riders to excel internationally.
Strategic Initiatives for the Next Decade
The extension with ASO signifies a shared commitment to advancing rally-raid racing globally. The INDH program focuses on identifying and training young off-road talent through a structured two-to-three-year development curriculum. This initiative builds on the team's existing ecosystem, following Arun Thayappa's international debut at the Cierzo Rally in Spain in September 2025 aboard the Hero 450 Rally prototype.
New Talent Induction
As part of its talent development strategy, Hero MotoSports signed Shlok Ghorpade, a national Supercross champion from Satara, Maharashtra. Ghorpade has begun training with Ross Branch and core team riders. He is scheduled to participate in an intensive race simulation program in Morocco, designed as a dedicated pathway towards the Dakar Rally.
