CME Group announced senior leadership appointments in its finance and legal divisions, promoting Jack Tobin to Chief Financial Officer and John Marchese to General Counsel.
The changes support the company’s executive transition plan. Tobin will assume the CFO role in March 2027, succeeding Lynne Fitzpatrick, who is set to become CEO. To ensure continuity, Tobin will first serve as Deputy CFO starting November 2026.
Leadership Transitions
Tobin, who has served as Chief Accounting Officer since 2015, brings over 35 years of financial experience to the expanded role. He joined CME Group in 2002 and previously worked as a principal consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Matthew Render will succeed Tobin as Chief Accounting Officer. Render joined CME Group as Deputy Chief Accounting Officer in August 2026 after holding finance roles at Citadel, BP, and Ernst & Young.
In the legal division, Marchese will succeed Jonathan Marcus, who is stepping down after serving as General Counsel since 2022. Marchese, currently Managing Director & Associate General Counsel for Litigation & Information Technology since 2024, will report directly to Chairman and CEO Terry Duffy.
