Catholic Health and GE HealthCare (NASDAQ: GEHC) announced a 10-year strategic partnership, known as a Care Alliance, valued at approximately $500 million to expand access to advanced imaging, precision diagnostics, and AI-enabled technology across Long Island. This agreement, one of the largest Care Alliances for GE HealthCare to date, combines technology modernization with service support designed to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiencies. The partnership will add more than 1,300 pieces of technology across Catholic Health hospitals and ambulatory locations, including key service lines such as cardiology, oncology, neurology, and women’s health.
The Care Alliance centers on system-wide modernization, with approximately 50% of equipment additions arriving at clinical sites during the first three years of the agreement. The partnership is expected to generate capital savings compared with traditional equipment purchasing approaches through unitary payments and accelerators. These savings allow Catholic Health to reinvest resources in technology modernization, expanded patient access, and clinical program growth.
Technology and Service Expansion
The agreement includes a 10-year, multivendor service agreement covering delivery and maintenance of equipment across 40+ sites, including lifecycle and fleet management. Digital solutions, such as the cloud-based radiology operations platform Imaging 360, aim to unify workflows, centralize performance insights, and enable remote scanning support. Additionally, the partnership features an embedded cardiovascular scientist to work directly with clinicians and inform future technology considerations.
Strategic Objectives
Catholic Health aims to achieve several clinical and operational goals through this alliance:
- Cardiology: Extend advanced cardiac imaging to multiple outpatient and ambulatory sites.
- Oncology: Reduce delays in the care journey by adding MR, CT, and PET technologies equipped with on-device AI.
- Nuclear Medicine: Expand capabilities at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® and Good Samaritan University Hospital.
- Ultrasound: Add hundreds of systems to increase department efficiency and support clinician confidence.
- Women’s Health: Enhance capabilities in OB/GYN and maternal fetal medicine.
Implementation and Impact
Patients may begin to see benefits during the first year, with equipment additions expected to arrive within months. Initial deployments include contrast-enhanced mammography, expanded diagnostic imaging capabilities, and upgraded maternal-infant care monitoring technologies at Good Samaritan University Hospital. The expanded capabilities will serve six acute care hospitals and 36 other sites, spanning modalities including CT, PET/CT, nuclear medicine, MR, mammography, X-ray, surgery, ultrasound, and anesthesia.
