This reduction in transit time aims to expand market access and increase profits for local farmers and exporters.

Inside the port, operations have been modernized with automated quay cranes, yard cranes, self-driving container trucks, and digital twin technology. These upgrades are enabling a new generation of young Peruvians to develop skills for automated logistics environments.

Technology Adoption in Manufacturing

In Thailand, cooperation between Chinese and Thai companies has introduced advanced automation to smart factories. The facilities feature full 5G coverage and AI-powered visual inspection systems that replace manual checks. Robotic arms, remotely controlled via mobile phones, now handle high-temperature or repetitive tasks, reducing workplace danger.

Innovation competitions are also fostering regional collaboration. At the Lancang-Mekong Countries Science and Technology Innovation Competition, teams presented projects such as bionic eagle-claw grippers for disaster relief drones. Participants exchanged ideas spanning biomedicine, modern agriculture, and information technology.

Agricultural Innovation

In Nauru, China-assisted soilless cultivation technology has transformed local food production. Container-based vegetable factories allow workers to harvest fresh lettuce, which reaches consumers within an hour and 20 minutes. This system reduces reliance on expensive air-freighted imports, making fresh produce more affordable for households.

Policy Framework

China continues to widen market access through pilot free trade zones and regional frameworks such as RCEP and the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0. Platforms including the China International Import Expo and the China International Consumer Products Expo facilitate trade connections. The APEC 2026 theme, "Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together," prioritizes openness, innovation, and cooperation.
