Titagarh Rail Systems Limited inaugurated its new Design & Operations Centre at its Passenger Rail Systems facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal, on August 21, 2026. The event was attended by senior state government officials, marking a strategic expansion of the company’s engineering infrastructure.

The new facility is designed to serve as a hub for advanced engineering, design-led innovation, and technology development. This expansion supports the company’s growing portfolio across passenger rail systems, aiming to strengthen in-house design and operational capabilities.

Government Presence and Strategic Alignment

Shri Tapas Roy, Minister of Industry & Commerce, Government of West Bengal, and Shri Arjun Singh, Minister of Labour & Transport, Government of West Bengal, were present at the inauguration. The event aligns with the state government’s development agenda under Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari.

Shri Tapas Roy highlighted the significance of manufacturing metro coaches and trains in Bengal. He noted that Titagarh supplies trains to cities including Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Patna, and Mumbai. He also referenced the production of next-generation modern Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains and expressed confidence that Kolkata Metro would be added to this list.

Titagarh Rail Systems has secured a new work order valued at Rs 445.0 crore from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. The contract, disclosed on August 21, 2025, involves the ship construction of two vessels to be completed over a period of 28 months.

This new award adds to the company's diverse order book, which includes contracts from both domestic and international entities. Titagarh Rail Systems previously won a Rs 7838.0 crore order from Indian Railways for wagons. Earlier, the company secured a Rs 2481.0 crore order from Mmrda for Mumbai Metro Line 5. Additionally, it won a Rs 1598.55 crore order from Ncc limited for Mumbai Metro Line 6 and a Rs 1909.04 crore order from the Ministry of Railways for BOSM wagons.

FINANCIAL CONTEXT

The Rs 445.0 crore order represents approximately 0.5 times the company's pre-computed average quarterly revenue of Rs 829.22 crore. The total disclosed order book now provides substantial coverage against average quarterly revenue, strengthening near-term visibility for the capital goods manufacturer.

RECENT PERFORMANCE

Consolidated financials show revenue declined slightly from Rs 888.90 crore in Q4FY26 to Rs 771.70 crore in Q1FY27. However, operating profit margin expanded from 10.54% to 12.32%. Net profit remained stable at Rs 52.60 crore in Q1FY27 versus Rs 53.50 crore in Q4FY26.
