Ola Electric Mobility has become the first Indian company to receive BIS certification for an indigenously developed 46100 LFP cell. Ola Cell Technologies (OCT), a wholly owned subsidiary, secured the certification under IS 16046 (Part 2):2018 / IEC 62133-2:2017 on June 23, 2026. This milestone strengthens India's battery manufacturing capabilities and reduces dependence on imported cell technologies.
The LFP 46100 cell has also qualified under IS 16893 Parts 2 and 3 and UN 38.3 standards. It underwent rigorous safety, performance, and endurance tests at a NABL-accredited laboratory, including thermal abuse, external short circuit, and vibration assessments. Expanding the Cell Portfolio
This new platform expands Ola Electric's in-house cell portfolio beyond its NMC 4680 Bharat Cell.
