Production and sales performance

The state-owned miner's output growth reflects strong operational activity, with August volumes marking a significant year-on-year expansion. The company also disclosed provisional sales data, showing total sales of 3.58 million tonne in August, up from 3.39 million tonne in August 2025.

The 13.7% YoY jump in August production indicates a robust ramp-up in mining activity at NMDC's operations during the month. The cumulative figure of 23.23 million tonne provides context for the total output achieved over the broader reporting period.

Regional breakdown

Production growth was driven by both major operating regions. In Chhattisgarh, monthly production rose to 2.64 million tonne from 2.21 million tonne a year earlier. Karnataka saw production increase to 1.43 million tonne from 1.16 million tonne.

Sales in Chhattisgarh reached 2.51 million tonne against 2.28 million tonne in August 2025, while Karnataka sales were 1.07 million tonne compared to 1.11 million tonne previously.

Cumulative production in Chhattisgarh stood at 16.42 million tonne, significantly higher than 12.29 million tonne in the same period last year. Karnataka's cumulative production was 6.81 million tonne versus 6.16 million tonne.

NMDC Limited announced that Ashish Chatterjee has ceased to be a Government Nominee Director on its Board, effective the forenoon of August 24, 2026. The change follows an office memorandum from the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

The Ministry of Steel communicated the cessation via Office Memorandum No. S-14011/1/2022-BLA dated August 27, 2026. Chatterjee, who serves as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor to the Ministry of Steel, was originally appointed on June 11, 2025, under MoS Order No. S-14011/1/2022-BLA.

Updated Board Composition

NMDC Limited provided an updated list of directors following the departure. The board now comprises six functional directors, one government nominee director, and three non-official independent directors.
