The latest APX NEXT XN model adds low earth orbit (LEO) satellite to land mobile radio (LMR) and broadband connectivity. This capability helps firefighters maintain voice and data communications across diverse terrains.

Firefighters can access field-based, voice-enabled applications such as SmartQuery, which allows access to agency policies via the ViQi button, and SmartTranslate, which provides voice-to-voice translation to manage language barriers.
