Lyft, Inc. (Nasdaq: LYFT) has appointed Senthil Padmanabhan as Chief Technology Officer, effective July 20, 2026. He will report to CEO David Risher and lead the engineering foundations that power the company's products and services. The appointment is strategic for Lyft as it aims to leverage artificial intelligence to drive innovation and improve experiences for riders and drivers.

Padmanabhan joins Lyft from eBay, where he most recently served as VP of Engineering and Technical Fellow. With decades of experience, he is recognized as a technical leader who operates at every altitude, driving company-wide change at a global scale. During his tenure, he scaled the company's core engineering platform, applications, and infrastructure. His leadership contributed to eBay becoming a segment leader in categories such as Parts & Accessories and Collectibles, while establishing it as the fastest e-commerce site globally.

AI Transformation and Engineering Efficiency

At eBay, Padmanabhan led a company-wide AI transformation that enhanced customer experiences and increased engineering throughput. This initiative fundamentally changed how teams operate, resulting in a significant reduction in deployment cycle times. The transformation achieved 10x more deployments and 6x more experiments compared to four years prior.

Strategic Focus at Lyft

Lyft is positioning itself to use AI to unlock faster innovations rather than solely for cost reduction. Padmanabhan will be responsible for setting the technical direction, building on a world-class foundation to expand the company's capabilities. His focus will be on supporting riders, drivers, and the communities they serve through technology.
