Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Infosys , has committed over INR 147 crore towards critical medical equipment for the Advanced Mother and Child Centre (AMCC) at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. The facility, inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on July 22, 2026, aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates and provide low-income families access to high-quality and affordable healthcare. The center is expected to benefit over 25,000 pregnant women and newborns annually.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon'ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT Chandigarh; Shri J.P. Nadda, Hon'ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare; Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways; and Shri Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh. Senior officials from Infosys Foundation and PGIMER were also present.
Advanced Medical Infrastructure
The AMCC is equipped with specialized facilities designed to handle critical care requirements for mothers and newborns. Key infrastructure includes triage and emergency services for pregnant women, labor and delivery units, and resuscitation facilities. The center also features obstetric intensive care and high dependency units, neonatal intensive care units, and modular operation theatres.
