Hilton Grand Vacations Inc. (NYSE: HGV) announced plans for Ocean Reserve, a new 227-unit oceanfront vacation ownership resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This development marks the company's fourth property in Myrtle Beach and its eighth in the state.
The resort is positioned adjacent to Ocean 22, another Hilton Grand Vacations Club property. This proximity allows members and guests to enjoy a campus-style experience with shared access to amenities across both locations. Construction began in December 2025, and occupancy is anticipated in the second quarter of 2028.
Project Details and Amenities
Ocean Reserve will feature spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, all equipped with full kitchens and in-unit washers and dryers. The property also includes expansive presidential suites overlooking a rooftop pool deck with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Planned resort amenities include:
- Indoor pool
- Bar and deli
- Fitness center
- Multi-purpose activity area
Sales for the property began in July 2026. The location at 23rd Avenue North and North Ocean Boulevard provides access to Myrtle Beach’s dining, shopping and entertainment options, including the "Golden Mile" coastline.
Strategic Partnership
This project represents HGV’s sixth collaboration with South Carolina-based Strand Capital Group, LLC. J. Patrick Lowe, founding partner of Strand Capital Group, highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two firms.
"We appreciate the opportunity to continue our long-standing relationship with Hilton Grand Vacations through Ocean Reserve," Lowe said. "Together, we’re building a resort that will be a wonderful addition to Myrtle Beach."
Mark Wang, CEO of Hilton Grand Vacations, noted that the addition enhances choice and flexibility for the company’s more than 720,000 Club Members.
What the Numbers Show
The expansion into Myrtle Beach reflects a concentrated geographic strategy. With eight properties in South Carolina alone, HGV is leveraging existing infrastructure and brand recognition in a single high-demand coastal market to drive membership value through cross-property amenity access.
How might the 'campus-style' integration with Ocean 22 impact HGV's average revenue per user and member retention rates in the Myrtle Beach market?
Given the 2028 occupancy timeline, what risks does HGV face regarding construction cost inflation or shifting consumer travel preferences over the next three years?
Will HGV's concentrated strategy of eight properties in South Carolina expose it to greater regional economic volatility compared to competitors with more diversified geographic portfolios?
