GitLab Inc. has appointed Chaim Mazal as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead its global security organization and define security standards for AI-driven software development. Mazal will oversee the security of GitLab as a company and as a platform, ensuring the delivery of security rigor required by AI agents. His appointment addresses the emerging risks associated with AI-driven threats and the need for robust security in engineering workflows.
Mazal brings 15 years of security leadership experience, spanning adversarial security and enterprise security program design. His approach focuses on designing defenses around how attacks are constructed and embedding security directly into engineering workflows. Before joining GitLab, he served as Chief AI and Security Officer at Gigamon, where he led security and the company's AI program, overseeing governance and responsible adoption. He also held senior security leadership roles at Kandji and ActiveCampaign.

Mazal is an established voice in the security community, serving on the advisory boards of Cloudflare, Rapid7, Axonius, and Bugcrowd. He was a GitLab customer for more than eight years and previously joined the company's advisory board to help shape product direction. This deep familiarity with the platform is expected to inform his strategy as CISO.
