H1FY27 operational and segment insights
For the first half of FY27, consolidated revenue reached ₹1,160 crore, marking an 11.1% increase over the adjusted H1FY26 figure of ₹1,043 crore. The adjusted prior-year revenue excludes ₹25 crore of one-time arbitration income in the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) division. H1FY27 EBITDA stood at ₹257 crore, up 11.4% YoY on an adjusted basis, with margins holding steady at 22.2% compared to 22.1% in the adjusted prior period.
Segment-wise, the Gear business contributed ₹903 crore (78% of total revenue), while MHE accounted for ₹256 crore (22%). Geographically, domestic sales rose to ₹850 crore (73%), while overseas revenue increased to ₹309 crore (27%), indicating a shift toward international markets compared to the 23% overseas share in the adjusted H1FY26.
What the numbers show
The combined data reveals a divergence between revenue and profit growth rates. While revenue grew by approximately 10.3%, EBITDA expanded by 17.5%, indicating improved operating efficiency or better product mix. This led to a margin expansion of 145 basis points year-on-year. The net profit growth of roughly 9.9% trailed the EBITDA growth, suggesting potential headwinds at the interest or tax level, though specific details on these lines were not disclosed in the immediate update.
Furthermore, the H1FY27 data highlights that the Gear segment remains the primary driver of growth, accounting for nearly four-fifths of total revenue. The increase in overseas contribution to 27% suggests a strategic diversification away from domestic dependency, which may buffer against local cyclical fluctuations.
Dividend tax deduction guidelines
In line with the Income Tax Act, 2025, Elecon has issued detailed guidelines regarding Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on the interim dividend. Dividend income is taxable in the hands of shareholders, and the company is mandated to deduct TDS based on shareholder category and documentation provided by the record date of October 21, 2026.
For resident shareholders
TDS will be deducted at 10% under Section 393(1) of the Act unless exempt. However, TDS will not apply if the aggregate dividend received by an individual shareholder during the financial year does not exceed ₹10,000. Shareholders seeking nil or lower TDS must submit Form 121 or a valid certificate issued under Section 395(1) along with self-attested PAN copies. Failure to provide a valid PAN linked to Aadhaar will result in a higher TDS rate of 20% under Section 397(2).
For non-resident shareholders
Tax withholding applies at 20% plus applicable surcharge and cess. Non-resident investors, including Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs), may claim beneficial rates under Double Tax Avoidance Agreements (DTAA). To avail this, they must submit a Tax Residency Certificate (TRC), Digital Form 41, and other requisite documents by the record date. Without these documents, the standard higher rate will apply.
