BharatRohan Airborne Innovations Ltd announced on June 29, 2026, the successful development of its indigenous snapshot hyperspectral imaging camera and the completion of a functional working prototype. Designed specifically for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platforms, this milestone marks a significant step in the company's journey towards building an end-to-end indigenous drone and imaging technology ecosystem. The development reduces dependence on imported technologies and strengthens control over product development and manufacturing.
The newly developed snapshot hyperspectral camera has been designed and integrated using in-house embedded processing electronics, edge computing, power and thermal management systems, payload integration and UAV-ready enclosure design. The prototype has been optimised for Visible and Near Infrared (VNIR) imaging, creating a compact and lightweight payload suitable for drone-based deployments. BharatRohan has also established a roadmap to expand its in-house capabilities beyond snapshot imaging to line-scanning (pushbroom) hyperspectral sensors.
