A team from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), Pune, has won Varroc Engineering 's Eureka Challenge 3.0, securing the top position for its AI-powered computer-aided design (CAD) innovation. The winning solution, titled "AI-Driven Design Intelligence for Early-Stage CAD Validation," uses artificial intelligence to identify design issues and optimization opportunities at the initial stages of product development.
The innovation is designed to help engineers reduce development cycles, improve design quality, and accelerate innovation within the mobility sector. Varroc, a global tier-1 automotive supplier, announced the results on August 20, 2026, highlighting the potential of the solution to address real-world engineering challenges.
Competition Scale and Process
The third edition of the Eureka Challenge generated significant participation from engineering students across India. The competition received more than 25,000 registrations from undergraduate and postgraduate students across multiple disciplines, including Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Information Technology, Mechanical, and Automobile Engineering.
Following a rigorous multi-stage screening process, more than 1,800 ideas were submitted and evaluated. The process narrowed down to 27 teams shortlisted for the online presentation stage, with the top four advancing to the grand finale held at Varroc.
