Meenakshi Steel Industries returned to profitability in the first quarter of FY26, reporting a standalone net profit after tax of ₹24.47 lakh for the period ended June 30, 2026. This marks a significant turnaround from the net loss of ₹53.69 lakh recorded in Q4FY26. The improvement was primarily driven by a reduction in finance costs to ₹438.54 lakh from ₹508.20 lakh in the preceding quarter, alongside an increase in total income to ₹478.13 lakh. Basic earnings per share (EPS) stood at ₹1.23, compared to a loss of ₹2.70 per share in Q4FY26.

The unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results were reviewed by the Audit Committee and approved by the Board of Directors on August 07, 2026. The company disclosed these results pursuant to Regulation 33 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. M/s VRSK & Co. LLP, the statutory auditor, issued a limited review report with an unmodified opinion. The results were also published in newspapers Nalanda Express and Standard Post on August 08, 2026, under Regulations 30 and 47.

Financial Highlights

The company’s revenue is derived mainly from interest income, reflecting its focus on finance and investment activities. There are no separate reportable segments under Ind AS 108. Key financial metrics for the quarter are detailed below:

Particulars Q1FY26 (₹ in Lakhs) Q4FY26 (₹ in Lakhs) Q1FY25 (₹ in Lakhs)
Interest Income 471.94 423.27 396.29
Other Income 6.19 13.50 4.91
Total Income 478.13 436.88 401.34
Finance Costs 438.54 508.20 308.83
Profit Before Tax 31.52 (73.70) 75.77
Net Profit After Tax 24.47 (53.69) 54.27
Basic EPS (₹) 1.23 (2.70) 2.72

Total expenses decreased to ₹446.61 lakh in Q1FY26 from ₹510.58 lakh in Q4FY26. Employee benefit expenses remained stable at ₹4.64 lakh. A current tax benefit of ₹7.05 lakh further contributed to the bottom-line improvement.

Consolidated Performance

On a consolidated basis, including associate company Sushree Trading Limited, Meenakshi Steel Industries reported a profit after tax and share in profit of associates of ₹27.07 lakh, compared to a consolidated loss of ₹49.04 lakh in Q4FY26. The share of profits from associates was ₹2.60 lakh. Consolidated basic EPS was ₹1.36 per share.

What the Numbers Show

The reversal from loss to profit underscores the impact of cost containment rather than top-line growth. While interest income grew sequentially by nearly ₹49 lakh, the more critical driver was the sharp decline in finance costs, which dropped by approximately ₹70 lakh quarter-on-quarter. This suggests improved management of debt obligations or favorable refinancing conditions. However, year-on-year, the net profit of ₹24.47 lakh remains significantly below the ₹54.27 lakh reported in Q1FY25, indicating that while sequential recovery has occurred, operational profitability still lags behind the previous year’s levels.
