Jindal Stainless signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) on September 18, 2026, securing recognition as an Awarding Body. This status enables the company to develop and offer government-recognised, industry-led qualifications aligned with the stainless steel ecosystem's skill requirements.

The agreement positions Jindal Stainless to award, assess, and certify learners for approved qualifications through its owned or managed training centres. The signing ceremony was attended by Ms Debashree Mukherjee, Chairperson of NCVET and Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati, Secretary to the Council cum Director of NCVET; Mr Vijay Sharma, Director – Corporate Affairs at Jindal Stainless; and Ms Bhavna Chopra Srikrishna, Head – Stainless Academy.

Qualification Approval

NCVET has approved the first qualification developed by Jindal Stainless: "Stainless Steel Decorative Pipe & Tube Manufacturing Operator." This qualification falls under the Capital Goods sector at NSQF Level 4 and will be awarded to trainees completing relevant courses. As an apex national regulator for vocational education, NCVET’s approval validates the industry-specific curriculum designed by the company.

Workforce Development Strategy

The recognition builds on Jindal Stainless’ existing efforts through Stainless Academy, its education and skilling initiative. Since inception, the Academy has focused on developing a skilled blue- and white-collar workforce through industry-aligned training, curriculum development, and specialised programmes for ITIs, polytechnics, and engineering colleges. It also engages in MSME cluster development.

Mr Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, stated that India’s manufacturing ambitions depend on human capabilities alongside infrastructure and technology. He noted that the NCVET recognition marks an important step in giving industry a stronger role in shaping the capabilities required for the stainless steel sector.

Mr Vijay Sharma added that the Academy has evolved beyond conventional training to work across academic institutions, MSMEs, fabricators, and other stakeholders. He highlighted that the NCVET recognition provides a platform to bring greater structure to this work, aligning skills with the sector’s evolving requirements.

What the Numbers Show

While this announcement is non-financial, it underscores Jindal Stainless’ operational scale and long-term planning. With an annual turnover of INR 42,955 crore (USD 4.86 billion) in FY26 and a melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes, the company is investing in human capital infrastructure to support its extensive manufacturing network. The focus on NSQF Level 4 certifications suggests a targeted effort to standardise entry-level technical skills across its 16 manufacturing and processing facilities in India and abroad.
