Cindrella Financial Services reported a sharp decline in profitability for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, with standalone net profit falling to ₹1.74 lakh from ₹12.93 lakh in the previous year.

The Kolkata-based non-banking financial company (NBFC) attributed the drop to lower interest earnings and trading losses. Total revenue from operations contracted to ₹20.45 lakh, down from ₹27.77 lakh in FY25.

Financial Performance

The company's interest income, a key revenue driver, fell significantly to ₹9.04 lakh compared to ₹16.52 lakh in the prior year. This decline was partially offset by stable dividend income, which stood at ₹11.41 lakh, marginally up from ₹11.25 lakh.

However, other income swung to a negative figure of (₹2.13 lakh), reversing the positive contribution of ₹3.77 lakh recorded in FY25. This shift was driven by a loss on the sale of shares and the absence of profits from mutual fund sales that had contributed in the previous year.

Metric FY26 FY25 Change
Revenue from Operations ₹20.45 lakh ₹27.77 lakh -26.4%
Total Income ₹18.32 lakh ₹31.54 lakh -41.9%
Profit Before Tax ₹3.06 lakh ₹16.77 lakh -81.8%
Net Profit After Tax ₹1.74 lakh ₹12.93 lakh -86.5%

Consolidated Results

On a consolidated basis, including its associate Cindrella Hotels Limited, the group reported a net profit of ₹7.69 lakh, down from ₹19.27 lakh in FY25. The share of profit from the associate was ₹5.95 lakh, slightly lower than the ₹6.34 lakh recorded previously.

Balance Sheet Signals

The company strengthened its liquidity position during the year. Cash and cash equivalents rose sharply to ₹41.34 lakh from ₹2.00 lakh at the end of FY25. Bank balances also increased to ₹89.65 lakh from ₹30.22 lakh.

Notably, the company fully recovered its unsecured loan exposure to its associate, Cindrella Hotels Limited. The loan balance, which stood at ₹90.46 lakh in March 2025, was reduced to zero by year-end following repayments totaling ₹163.93 lakh.

What the Numbers Show

The divergence between operating expenses and revenue highlights margin pressure. While total revenue declined by over 40%, total expenses increased slightly to ₹15.27 lakh from ₹14.77 lakh. Legal expenses more than doubled to ₹26.32 lakh (in hundreds), indicating potential compliance or litigation costs impacting the bottom line despite the absence of disclosed pending litigations.

Corporate Actions

The Board of Directors decided not to recommend any dividend for FY26, citing lower profits. No transfers were made to reserves. The 32nd Annual General Meeting is scheduled for September 29, 2026, where shareholders will consider the re-appointment of Director Vivek Baid, who retires by rotation.
