Blue Coast Hotels Limited reported a standalone net loss of ₹27.52 lakhs for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1FY27), a significant improvement from the ₹130.65 lakh loss recorded in the same period of the previous year. The reduction in losses was primarily driven by a sharp decline in other expenses rather than operational profitability, as revenue from operations more than doubled to ₹35.00 lakhs but remained insufficient to cover fixed finance costs. Despite the improved bottom line, statutory auditors Virender K. Jain & Associates raised a material uncertainty regarding the company’s ability to continue as a going concern, citing negative net worth and ongoing defaults on redeemable preference shares.

The Board of Directors approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results along with the limited review report issued by the statutory auditors during its meeting held on August 7, 2026. The Board also approved the 33rd Board’s Report for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, and fixed September 19, 2026, as the cut-off date for determining voting eligibility for the 33rd Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 26, 2026.

Financial Performance

Total revenue from operations for Blue Coast Hotels Limited rose to ₹35.00 lakhs in Q1FY27, up from ₹13.45 lakhs in Q1FY26. Other income contributed ₹15.40 lakhs, bringing total revenue to ₹50.40 lakhs, compared to ₹11.02 lakhs in the year-ago quarter. Total expenses decreased significantly to ₹77.92 lakhs from ₹141.67 lakhs, largely due to a drop in other expenses from ₹73.19 lakhs to ₹9.35 lakhs. Finance costs remained high at ₹46.16 lakhs, while employee benefits expense decreased slightly to ₹17.17 lakhs from ₹19.23 lakhs.

Particulars Q1FY27 (₹ Lakhs) Q1FY26 (₹ Lakhs) Q4FY26 (₹ Lakhs)
Revenue from Operations 35.00 13.45 123.37
Other Income 15.40 (2.43) 5.08
Total Revenue 50.40 11.02 128.45
Total Expenses 77.92 141.67 112.62
Net Profit/Loss (27.52) (130.65) (13.49)
Basic EPS (₹) (0.15) (0.88) (0.13)

On a consolidated basis, the group reported a net loss of ₹27.83 lakhs for the quarter, compared to ₹130.88 lakhs in Q1FY26. Consolidated revenue remained at ₹35.00 lakhs, with other income at ₹15.40 lakhs. Total consolidated expenses were ₹78.23 lakhs.

Going Concern and Legal Developments

The auditors’ review report drew attention to Notes 6 and 7 of the financial statements, highlighting regular operational losses and a negative net worth as of June 30, 2026. The company is currently in default on the payment of dividend on cumulative redeemable preference shares amounting to ₹485.27 lakhs and the redemption amount of 0.01% redeemable preference shares standing at ₹551.89 lakhs. Management stated that these obligations will be addressed as soon as financial conditions permit.

Legally, the company has filed a Redemption Petition before the Hon’ble High Court of Bombay at Goa, invoking its right of redemption over the Park Hyatt Goa Resort & Spa. Additionally, an appeal before the Securities Appellate Tribunal regarding surplus auction proceeds of ₹8,500.00 lakhs remains pending, with the Tribunal having granted a stay on recovery proceedings by IFCI.

Capital Structure Changes

During the quarter, Blue Coast Hotels Limited converted the remaining 2,48,710 0.01% Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares (CCPS) of ₹100 each into 24,87,100 equity shares of ₹10 each on a preferential basis. This conversion completed the full conversion of all 6,93,110 CCPS into 69,31,100 equity shares. As the CCPS were classified as equity, no gain or loss was recognized on the conversion. The paid-up equity share capital increased to ₹1,967.96 lakhs from ₹1,719.25 lakhs in the previous quarter.

What the Numbers Show

The narrowing of the net loss from ₹130.65 lakhs to ₹27.52 lakhs is primarily attributable to a significant reduction in other expenses rather than a surge in operational profitability. While revenue from operations more than doubled to ₹35.00 lakhs, it remains insufficient to cover the fixed finance costs of ₹46.16 lakhs. The company’s reliance on expected financial support from its wholly-owned subsidiary, Blue Coast Hospitality Limited, underscores the fragility of its current cash flow position, as highlighted by the auditors’ going concern qualification.
