Antara Care Homes has introduced ExoAtlet II, a robotic-assisted exoskeleton, at its Bannerghatta centre in Bengaluru to enhance rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, paralysis, and neurological conditions. The addition of this technology, alongside a robotic device for hand and finger retraining, positions the facility among the few transition care centres in India offering robotic-assisted recovery. This development strengthens the specialist-led rehabilitation programme managed by Antara Assisted Care Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Max India .
The ExoAtlet II is a wearable robotic suit designed to fit around a patient's legs and hips, facilitating hundreds of consistent, physiologically accurate steps per session. This level of repetition is often difficult to sustain through manual therapy alone. The integration of such advanced technology aims to improve limb function, reduce complications, and enhance the overall quality of life for patients by providing structured and timely rehabilitation.
Technology and Clinical Application
Ishaan Khanna, CEO of Antara Assisted Care Services, highlighted the growing burden of stroke and neurological disorders in India, noting that an estimated 347 million people are projected to be senior citizens by 2050. He emphasized that robotic-assisted gait training systems are known to enhance clinical outcomes, helping patients regain functional independence and confidence during recovery.
Lt Col (Dr) Faisal Husain, Medical Superintendent at Antara Assisted Care Services, explained that successful rehabilitation relies on personalization, repetition, and consistency. Each patient's recovery plan is designed by a rehabilitation-medicine specialist and executed by a trained physiotherapy team. When indicated, the exoskeleton's settings are calibrated to individual needs and progressed as the patient improves, working in tandem with hands-on physiotherapy.

Antara Care Homes operates across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Chennai, providing rehabilitation and transition care for individuals recovering from hospitalization, surgery, illness, or injury. The Bengaluru facility distinguishes itself by having every patient journey designed and led by a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) doctor. The multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and swallow therapy, and psychologist-led cognitive care, supported by round-the-clock clinical and nursing supervision.
The therapy facility is equipped for the full spectrum of recovery, ranging from neuromuscular re-education to strength and balance training. It houses two robotic tools: a device for fine hand and finger movement retraining and the newly added ExoAtlet II for lower-limb and gait recovery.
