Comcast's Xfinity has introduced same-day WiFi equipment delivery for new internet customers, allowing households to get online within hours of signing up. The service is initially available in nearly 20 markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, with plans to expand to the entire Xfinity footprint by early 2027. This move makes Xfinity the first major wired internet provider to offer same-day WiFi connectivity, aiming to reduce friction for customers moving or starting new service.

New Xfinity Internet customers can choose between same-day Gateway delivery to their doorstep or picking up the equipment at one of over 700 Xfinity Stores nationwide. To qualify for same-day delivery, orders must be placed by 3 pm. The Xfinity Gateway provides multi-gig speeds, ultra-low lag connectivity, and wall-to-wall coverage, along with built-in cybersecurity protection and parental controls. Customers can self-install and activate the service in minutes using the Xfinity app.

The same-day WiFi service is designed to support modern households with hundreds of connected devices, from 4K streaming to hybrid work and smart home applications. Before the Gateway arrives, customers gain free access to Xfinity's network of more than 23 million secure WiFi hotspots upon signing up. The service also includes a one-year free Mobile Select line on Xfinity Mobile, which combines WiFi hotspot access with 5G connectivity.

Xfinity plans to roll out same-day Gateway delivery to nearly all new customers across its footprint by the end of 2026.
