Saab has secured a contract with the French General Directorate of Armaments, Direction générale de l'Armement, for the supply of its Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW). Deliveries under the agreement are scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2030. The order encompasses NLAW weapons along with indoor and outdoor trainers, and includes provisions for France to order additional units.

Contract Details

The agreement expands Saab's existing relationship with the French Armed Forces, which previously included deliveries of AT4 and Carl-Gustaf M4 systems. The inclusion of options for additional orders allows for potential future expansion of the NLAW capability within the French Army.

NLAW Capabilities

NLAW is a combat-proven anti-tank weapon utilized by nations including Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Finland. The system is designed to provide individual soldiers with the ability to neutralize heavily armored threats rapidly. Its smart guidance system enables operation from various positions, including inside buildings or behind cover, without requiring complex setup.

Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's business area Dynamics, stated that the weapon will bring a new level of anti-tank capability to the French Army. He emphasized the system's unmatched effectiveness and its ability to change the dynamic on the battlefield.
