KBR has been selected by Keppel Infrastructure Division and Aster Chemicals and Energy to provide technology licensing and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) services for a proposed Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island. The facility is expected to be Asia's first commercial-scale ethanol-to-jet SAF plant, with a planned production capacity of up to 100,000 tons per year, subject to final investment decision and regulatory approvals. This project supports Singapore's ambition to become a leading SAF hub in Asia and advances efforts to decarbonize the country's aviation ecosystem.
The PureSAF technology, developed by Swedish Biofuels AB and engineered for commercial-scale production by KBR, is exclusively licensed by KBR worldwide. It is designed to be feedstock-flexible and bankable, delivering a 100% drop-in jet fuel that can power aircraft without blending. KBR's innovation aims to make SAF solutions compatible with regional feedstock availability and enable a cost-optimized transition to low-carbon jet fuel for the aviation industry.
Strategic Collaboration
In addition to the technology licensing, KBR has entered into a Memorandum of Intent with Keppel’s Infrastructure Division to collaborate on decarbonization across energy transition technologies. The partnership will focus on areas such as waste-to-energy, plastic recycling, biofuels, SAF, and AI-driven digitalization.
