IEX Q1FY27 Profit Rises 11.7% to ₹134.8 Crore on Strong Volume Growth

Indian Energy Exchange reported a consolidated net profit of ₹134.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, marking an 11.7% increase from ₹120.7 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. The standalone profit after tax stood at ₹126.7 crore, a 12.1% rise year-on-year. The growth was driven by a 15.9% surge in electricity volumes, which reached 37.5 billion units (BUs) during the quarter, supported by an all-time high peak power demand of 270.8 GW in May 2026 due to hotter-than-normal summer temperatures.
The board of directors approved the unaudited financial results for the quarter during a meeting held on July 23, 2026. The consolidated revenue for Q1FY27 increased 10.1% to ₹202.8 crore, compared to ₹184.2 crore in Q1FY26. Total expenses for the quarter were ₹337.27 lakh on a consolidated basis, compared to ₹324.71 lakh in the same period last year. Profit before tax for the quarter was ₹1,768.01 crore. The earnings per share (EPS) on a consolidated basis was ₹1.52 for the quarter, compared to ₹1.36 in the previous year.
Financial Performance
The average price in the Day Ahead Market during Q1FY27 rose 15.7% to ₹5.1 per unit, while the Real Time Market price increased 13.8% to ₹4.5 per unit. On the gas market front, the Indian Gas Exchange (IGX), an associate of the company, traded volumes of 27.5 Million MMBtu, a growth of 11.9% over Q1FY26. IGX recorded a profit after tax of ₹16.3 crore, higher by 15.5% compared with ₹14.1 crore in Q1FY26.
