Genesco Inc. has appointed Jonathan Collins as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, effective August 3, 2026. Collins brings over 30 years of financial leadership experience to the role, reporting directly to Genesco Board Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer Mimi E. Vaughn. The appointment concludes a comprehensive search process following Vaughn's tenure as Interim Chief Financial Officer since March 2026.

Collins joins Genesco from America’s Car-Mart, Inc., where he served as Chief Financial Officer from 2025 to 2026. During his tenure, he led initiatives to strengthen the company's capital structure, enhance financial operations, and implement long-range planning processes. Prior to this, he spent more than a decade with Walmart from 2012 to 2025 in various executive leadership roles across North America, Africa, and Asia. Across these positions, he was instrumental in helping drive growth, operational improvements, capital allocation strategies and business transformation.

Executive Experience

Collins' career spans large-scale global retail operations and e-commerce platforms. His previous roles include:

Role Company Period
Chief Financial Officer America’s Car-Mart, Inc. 2025–2026
Chief Financial Officer Walmart Africa 2012–2025
Chief Accounting Officer Flipkart Group 2012–2025

At Walmart Africa, he led the finance function for a $5 billion retail subsidiary operating across eight African countries. As Chief Accounting Officer of Flipkart Group, he oversaw financial operations for India’s largest e-commerce platform, which reported $15 billion in revenue, and PhonePe, a fintech platform with $1 billion in revenue.

Strategic Focus

Vaughn highlighted Collins' expertise in driving operational discipline and profitable growth. "His broad experience across consumer-facing, large-scale, retail and e-commerce businesses, combined with his strategic financial acumen, makes him an outstanding addition to our leadership team, as we continue executing our Footwear First strategy," she said.

Collins holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois. He is a Certified Public Accountant and previously served as a partner at KPMG, leading global strategic advisory engagements.
