Profile of Shri Ajit Kumar Panda

Shri Ajit Kumar Panda holds a degree of BSc Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Rourkela, and M. Tech (Thermal Engineering) from IIT, Delhi. He is a 1990-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, with a career spanning three and a half decades. His expertise encompasses railway services, operations, logistics, productions, infrastructure, Rolling Stock, and Public Private Partnerships.

As Director (Projects & Services) of Container Corporation of India since December 2022, Shri Panda was responsible for CONCOR's infrastructure, including the setting up of Multi Modal Logistics Parks, acquisition of new Rolling Stock, Containers and handling machines, and the development of CONCOR's MIS and IT platforms. He has been instrumental in launching various new business initiatives by CONCOR.

Prior Experience and Achievements

Prior to his role at Container Corporation of India, Shri Panda served in several senior positions, including:

• Director (Production Units and Efficiency & Research), Ministry of Railways (Railway Board)
• Chief Workshop Manager, East Coast Railway, Mancheswar

He also served as a Director on the Boards of four SPV companies — Haridaspur Paradip Railway Company Limited, Angul Sukinda Railway Limited, Kutch Railway Company Limited, and Krishnapatnam Railway Company Limited. At RVNL, Shri Panda led the setting up of several state-of-the-art factories and depots through composite contracts, and piloted Rolling Stock plans at Railway Board to rapidly switch over to High Horse Power Locomotives and LHB type coaches. He is a two-time recipient of the Railway Minister's National Award for Outstanding Service.
