Container Corporation Of India has entered a 15-year strategic partnership with GAIL (India) Ltd to establish a state-of-the-art Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) dispensing station at its Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Khodiyar, Ahmedabad. This collaboration aims to transition India's heavy-duty commercial logistics sector toward sustainable fuel alternatives by creating a green corridor.
Agreement Structure and Responsibilities
Under the agreement, GAIL will hold exclusive operational control and invest in setting up the retail LNG outlet infrastructure. Container Corporation Of India will provide a dedicated land parcel of approximately 3.000 square meters within its high-traffic Ahmedabad terminal, along with essential utility connectivity. The multi-modal facility is designed to operate round-the-clock, offering high-performance, eco-friendly fueling to Container Corporation Of India's logistics fleet as well as open-market commercial vehicles.
To ensure the commercial viability of the project, Container Corporation Of India has committed to deploying a dedicated fleet of 15 LNG-powered commercial vehicles starting in the first contract year. This commitment is intended to guarantee consistent demand for the new fueling infrastructure.
