Beam Global has been granted European Patent EP 4 348 756 B1, titled Smart Phase Change Composite for Passive Thermal Management, by the European Patent Office. The patent protects the company's Smart Phase Change Composite (PCC™) technology for lithium-ion batteries and expands its intellectual property portfolio into key European markets. This development supports Beam Global's strategy of securing IP protection in regions with growing electrification and battery demand, directly impacting the safety and efficiency of energy storage solutions.

The Smart PCC™ material functions as a thermal switch, insulating batteries in cold conditions and dissipating heat in high-temperature environments. It accommodates the natural expansion and contraction of phase change composites during temperature fluctuations, enabling passive thermal regulation without the complexity of active cooling systems. The technology is applicable across electric mobility, energy storage, robotics, defense, and other battery-powered applications.

Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global, emphasized the importance of the patent. "Developing a rich and protected IP portfolio in battery systems is a core aspect of our growth philosophy," he stated. Wheatley noted that the company is increasingly recognized as a provider for applications requiring safety, energy density, and bespoke form factors, including drones, robots, and weapon systems for military and commercial entities.
