Apollo Micro Systems has incorporated Shauryastra Defence Systems Private Limited as a dedicated technology and development entity. The company subscribed to 34% of the new entity's equity on August 21, 2026.

The move marks a strategic shift from subsystem manufacturing to complete weapon system development. Apollo Micro Systems aims to address unsolved operational problem statements for the Armed Forces through this new venture.

Strategic Rationale

Shauryastra Defence Systems Private Limited will focus on research, design, and development of complete weapon systems, long-range systems, and unmanned platforms. The entity operates under the leadership of Dr. V. K. Saraswat, former Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D.

This structure separates design and development from manufacturing. Apollo Micro Systems retains its established production infrastructure while Shauryastra concentrates on scientific leadership and system architecture. This approach aligns with global defence industry practices for complex platform development.

Investment Details

The listed entity subscribed to the Memorandum of Association at face value. The transaction involved cash consideration without any share swap mechanism.

Leadership and Vision

Dr. Saraswat serves as the promoter and guiding force for Shauryastra. His background includes leading the development of India's first indigenous surface-to-surface missile and contributing to ballistic missile defence programmes.

Apollo Micro Systems views this incorporation as a natural extension of its four-decade presence in defence electronics. The entity supports the Government of India's Atmanirbhar Bharat vision by pursuing fully indigenous weapon solutions conceived and engineered in India.

What the Numbers Show

The minimal cash outlay of ₹34,000 for a 34% stake indicates that Shauryastra is currently in its initial incorporation phase with negligible paid-up capital. This suggests that significant funding for research, development, and infrastructure will likely follow in subsequent rounds or through internal group resources rather than immediate external equity dilution.
