Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup Simple Energy has significantly expanded its product portfolio with the launch of four distinct scooter models, headlined by the Simple Ultra which the company claims offers India's longest range for an electric scooter. The launch includes Gen 2 versions of the Simple One and Simple OneS alongside the debut of the flagship Simple Ultra model.

The Simple Ultra represents a major technological advancement in the domestic electric two-wheeler market, featuring an IDC-certified range of 400km. This exceptional range is powered by a 6.5kWh battery pack, marking the largest battery configuration fitted on an electric scooter in India to date.

Enhanced Gen 2 Variants with Improved Features
The Gen 2 variants of the Simple One series have received comprehensive updates focused on performance and user experience. The updated scooters are now 8kg lighter, with the overall weight reduced to 129kg, improving handling and efficiency.
Key improvements in the Gen 2 models include increased underseat storage capacity of 35 litres and a lowered seat height of 780mm to enhance accessibility for a broader range of riders.

Aggressive Expansion and Financial Targets
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Simple Energy founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar outlined the company's ambitious growth strategy. The company is targeting EBITDA positivity before the end of FY26 and full net profitability ahead of its planned public listing.
Rajkumar indicated a potential IPO size of around ₹3,000 crore, with a tentative timeline of FY27 or FY28, subject to market conditions. As part of its pan-India expansion strategy, Simple Energy is targeting approximately 150 dealerships and 200 service centres by March 2026.
Market Presence and Distribution Strategy
The new scooters are currently available across more than 61 Simple Energy showrooms in major cities including Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Jaipur, and Mangalore. The company has also established online sales channels through Amazon and Flipkart to reach customers across different segments.
To date, Simple Energy has raised $51 million from various investors and high net-worth individuals, including Dr Arokiaswamy Velumani's family office, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran family office, the Desai family office of Apar Industries, and the Vasavi family office. In the competitive electric two-wheeler market, Simple Energy's new scooters will compete with established players such as Ather Rizta and TVS iQube.
