Ceva to get new life with Physical AI inflection, says Needham
Needham analyst Charles Shi initiated coverage on Ceva with a Buy rating and a $55 price target, identifying the company as a potential play on Physical AI. Shi believes Ceva's portfolio in wireless connectivity and sensing positions it to benefit from AI applications requiring physical interaction, such as in cars and robots.

Ceva Inc (NASDAQ: CEVA) is poised to benefit from the emergence of Physical AI, according to Needham analyst Charles Shi, who initiated coverage on the stock with a Buy rating and a price target of $55. Shi argues that applications such as cars, drones, and robots require semiconductor chips that go beyond standard compute and memory to interact with the physical world, positioning Ceva as a key beneficiary.
The analyst's thesis centers on the transition from generative and agentic AI, which largely operate in virtual environments, to Physical AI, which demands powerful models capable of real-world interaction. While existing AI leaders may continue to dominate the model side, Shi notes that the physical interaction requirements will create new beneficiaries. Ceva, identified as a leader in the Internet of Things (IoT), "should get a new life in the world of Physical AI, in our opinion," the report stated.
Ceva's market-leading portfolio in wireless connectivity, sensing, digital signal processors (DSPs), and neural processing units (NPUs) forms the technical foundation for this outlook. Shi highlighted that the company is currently in the "non-AI camp" of semiconductors and requires an AI catalyst to drive re-rating. He suggests this catalyst is on the horizon as AI benefits spread across the semiconductor industry.
From a valuation perspective, the analyst pointed out that while most AI stocks are trading at record multiples, Ceva's valuation remains within historical ranges. This discrepancy presents an opportunity, as progress in Physical AI will likely drive the company's valuation higher. Shares of Ceva had risen by 4.75% to $48.22 at the time of publication on Monday.
