The Government of Canada launched a $1 billion Agri-food Project Finance Fund during Minister Heath MacDonald’s tour of southern Ontario, aiming to finance mid-market infrastructure projects nationwide.

Funding Announcements

Minister MacDonald made the announcement at Arva Flour Mills. The fund is delivered by Farm Credit Canada (FCC) and serves as a key commitment under the National Food Security Strategy (NFSS). Alongside this, FCC Capital committed $2 billion to Velocity Agri-Capital Partners, including an initial $150 million investment.

Later in King City, the Minister announced a $5 million repayable contribution to Kinghaven Farms via the AgriInnovate program. This funding supports automation and climate control technologies for a new leafy greens greenhouse.

At Canada Pork’s annual conference in Toronto, MacDonald announced a $3.8 million AgriMarketing contribution. This aid targets domestic promotion and market expansion in the Indo-Pacific, South America, and Europe.
