The Earthshot Prize has announced its sixth cohort of 15 finalists for the 2026 awards. The group includes Mahindra Last Mile Mobility and other global environmental solutions.

The five winners will be revealed at the Earthshot Prize Awards Night in Mumbai on November 17. Each winner will receive £1 million to scale their impact.

Selection Criteria

This year marks the first time the science of positive tipping points was applied to the selection criteria. The framework aims to identify solutions capable of unlocking wider environmental transformation where beneficial change becomes self-reinforcing.

The 15 finalists were selected from a database of nearly 7,000 nominations across 169 countries. They represent a mix of Indigenous leaders, corporate entities, and technology platforms from the Global South, Europe, and the US.

Key Finalists

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility is one of India's largest three-wheeler manufacturers. It has transformed its supply chain and now sells more electric three-wheelers than any other company in the country.

Other notable finalists include Satellites on Fire, an Argentinian AI-powered wildfire detection platform that tracks fires across 21 countries faster than NASA. ZEMBA, the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance, brings global cargo owners together to make binding commitments to zero-emission shipping.

Awards Ceremony Details

The awards night will be hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar. The event is part of a two-day summit in Mumbai bringing together global leaders, innovators, and funders.

Finalists will receive dedicated mentorship and access to a network of businesses and investors. The campaign will also feature television and outdoor media coverage in the UK, US, and India.

What the Numbers Show

The cumulative impact of the 75 finalists supported since 2020 highlights the scale of the initiative. Their work has collectively avoided or captured more than 18 million tonnes of CO2e. Additionally, they have protected or restored 58 million hectares of land and 85 million hectares of ocean and coastline.
