Shake Shack Canada is expanding its presence in Alberta with the announcement of its first-ever drive-thru restaurant, expected to open this fall at 9253 Macleod Trail Southwest. The new location aims to meet the demand for on-the-go dining in Calgary and follows the successful opening of the brand's first Calgary location at CF Chinook Centre. The expansion is expected to create approximately 200 jobs for the local community.
Calgary was selected as the inaugural site for Shake Shack Canada's drive-thru concept due to the city's reliance on driving and the positive reception the brand has received since its debut. Billy Richmond, Business Director at Shake Shack Canada, emphasized that the drive-thru offers guests greater convenience year-round while maintaining the brand's hospitality standards.
The new drive-thru will uphold Shake Shack's signature cooked-to-order standards, including burgers made with 100% Alberta beef. Guests can expect the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship found in traditional Shacks. The location is designed to extend the Shack experience beyond restaurant walls.
Shake Shack Canada is a partnership formed in 2023 between Osmington Inc. and Harlo Entertainment Inc. The company currently operates seven locations across Ontario and one in Alberta, with plans to open at least 35 locations nationwide. The global Shake Shack brand has expanded to over 695 locations system-wide since its founding in 2004.
