Power Grid Corporation of India has successfully commissioned the Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat to increase Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) from Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), Part-B. The project achieved commercial operation status effective May 13, 2026. This development strengthens the transmission infrastructure in the region, enhancing the capacity to transfer power across the grid.

The confirmation regarding the Notification for Commercial Operation (DOCO) was received on June 3, 2026. The disclosure was made in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Project Details

The commissioned project focuses on expanding the transmission network within Gujarat. The primary objective is to augment the ATC from the ISTS, which facilitates more efficient power distribution.

The company continues to focus on strengthening the national transmission grid through such strategic expansions.

Power Grid Corporation of India has promoted Shri Sunil Kumar to the position of Executive Director (ED), effective June 1, 2026. The appointment elevates him to the role of Senior Management Personnel, positioning him one level below the Board of Directors. This strategic leadership change was disclosed to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

The promotion was formalized on June 1, 2026, with the term of appointment governed by the Service Rules of POWERGRID. The disclosure was read in conjunction with the SEBI Master Circular dated January 30, 2026. Shri Sunil Kumar brings over three decades of experience at POWERGRID to his new role. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Computer Science Engineering from BIT Sindri and joined the organization as an Executive Trainee in 1994. His career encompasses key responsibilities across various functions and geographies.

His leadership assignments have spanned New Delhi, Gurgaon, Patna, and Manesar, with a focus on real-time grid management, system operations, network monitoring, and digital safety. In his capacity as Executive Director, he will continue to advance Grid Automation & Communication while driving technology-driven governance.
