Bharat Coking Coal Limited has disclosed a development regarding its ongoing material litigation involving Criminal Miscellaneous Petition No. 3720 of 2017. The petition, filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, before the Hon'ble High Court of Jharkhand, has been dismissed as withdrawn by the court.

The case was filed against the State of Jharkhand and the labour enforcement officer, Dhanbad. It sought the quashing of an order dated December 16, 1998, passed by the chief judicial magistrate in a case filed under Section 29 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. The labour enforcement officer had previously filed a complaint alleging the non-implementation of an award dated July 20, 1992.

Court Order Details

The High Court dismissed the petition as withdrawn on May 7, 2026, granting liberty to raise grounds before the appropriate court or authority. The company has indicated that it will take appropriate steps in accordance with the law.

The company maintains its contention that the award dated July 20, 1992, is not implementable. This disclosure was made to the stock exchanges pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Incident Details

The accident occurred at around 5:00 PM at Heap No. C of Moonidih Washery. During slurry loading operations, four persons engaged in the activity by consumers were trapped due to a sudden slide of slurry. Immediate rescue efforts were undertaken; however, the four persons could not be saved.

The company has taken the following actions in response to the incident:

• Efforts are underway to manage the situation
• The incident has been reported to concerned authorities under the Factories Act, 1948

Production Impact Assessment

Moonidih Washery is presently under renovation. Consequently, the company stated that this incident is not expected to have any significant impact on the production and other activities of the washery.
