The Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) has deleted a Rs. 42.90 crore addition made under Section 56(2)(viib) of the Income Tax Act for the assessment year 2014-15. The dispute centered on the valuation of shares at Rs. 550 per share, which was supported by a District Valuation Officer's report valuing the property at Rs. 22.55 crore. The CIT(A) relied on this report and directions from the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal to conclude that the share valuation was justified. Urja Global has stated that this ruling has no material impact on its financials or operations.
