Interactive Brokers has expanded its cryptocurrency offerings by adding 12 new tokens and introducing the ability to transfer funds to external wallets via stablecoin. Clients can now withdraw USD from their accounts via automatic conversion to USDC, PYUSD (PayPal USD), or RLUSD (Ripple USD). This extension of stablecoin funding flexibility strengthens the firm's position as a low-cost, multi-asset broker.
Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers, stated that digital assets should be integrated into a client's broader financial experience. He emphasized the firm's focus on providing access to digital assets alongside a broad range of products and global markets.
Cost Structure and Trading Fees
The platform distinguishes itself through highly competitive costs. IBKR charges up to 85% less than competitors to trade crypto. Commissions start at 0.12% to 0.18% of trade value with a USD 1.75 minimum per order. There are no added spreads, markups, or custody fees. By comparison, recent offerings from traditional brokers charge as much as 0.75%, while some platforms charge up to 1.20% or more.
Stablecoin Funding and Transfers
Interactive Brokers now offers bidirectional funding via stablecoin, a feature most traditional brokers do not provide. Clients can fund accounts and transfer to external destinations, such as personal cryptocurrency wallets, using USDC, RLUSD, or PYUSD. Funding and external transfers are processed near-instantly, 24/7, including on weekends and holidays. Eligible clients can send and receive supported digital assets to and from both custodial and non-custodial wallets.

Platform Integration and Availability
Clients can trade cryptocurrency alongside stocks, options, futures, bonds, funds, and prediction markets on a unified multi-asset platform. Availability of products varies by Interactive Brokers affiliate and client country of residence. Bidirectional funding via stablecoin is not available to clients of Interactive Brokers (U.K.) Limited or Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited. The new crypto-assets are also not available to clients of Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited.
How will competitors respond to Interactive Brokers' significantly lower commission structure and new stablecoin funding capabilities?
Will the introduction of bidirectional stablecoin transfers drive a significant influx of new crypto-native assets to the platform?
Could the exclusion of U.K. and Irish clients from these new features accelerate a shift in global crypto trading volume to other jurisdictions?
