OrthoPediatrics Corp. has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with OSSIO, Inc. to bring bio-integrative, metal-free fixation technology to U.S. children’s hospitals nationwide. The partnership aims to provide a revolutionary solution for treating fractures and deformities in pediatric patients, addressing a critical need in the orthopedic market.

The OSSIOfiber implants are designed to perform their fixation function and then be gradually replaced by the patient’s newly formed bone during the natural healing process. This technological advance reduces the necessity for secondary hardware removal surgeries, which are commonly required for patients receiving traditional metal implants.

"Existing fixation technology requires pediatric orthopedic surgeons to consistently remove their patients’ metal implants in a second surgery that adds cost and risk," said Joe Hauser, President of Trauma and Deformity at OrthoPediatrics. "OSSIOfiber implants reduce the rate of these secondary procedures by doing away with metal."

The implants are constructed from a proprietary blend of natural mineral fibers, offering initial fixation strength comparable to metal implants. They safely and completely integrate into the patient’s bone tissue within 18–24 months post-implantation, leaving no hardware behind.
