Soma Papers' Subsidiary Secures ₹680 Crore Laptop Supply Contract from Tamil Nadu Government

Nov 18, 2025KS Smart Solutions Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Soma Papers and Industries Limited, has received a significant contract worth approximately ₹680 crores from Acer India Private Limited via Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited for supplying and installing laptop computers. The commercial contract involves delivering laptops to various educational institutions in Tamil Nadu in phases between December 2025 and April 2026.
Mr. Shankar Varadharajan and Mr. Anancha Perumal Selvi Keshav have launched an open offer to acquire up to 4.27 crore equity shares (26% of expanded capital) of Soma Papers and Industries Limited at Rs 10 per share, following their preferential allotment of 56.64% stake. The offer period runs from November 28, 2025 to December 11, 2025, with the acquirers seeking management control of the currently non-operational coated paper manufacturing company.
Soma Papers and Industries Limited has made a further investment in its wholly owned subsidiary, KS Smart Solutions Private Limited (KSSPL). The company acquired 100% equity stake comprising 36,062 equity shares of Rs. 10 each through cash consideration. KSSPL, incorporated on April 28, 2016, is a technology company offering end-to-end IT solutions across hardware, software, and emerging technologies including AR/VR, smart-city solutions, e-commerce, and digital marketing. For financial year 2024-25, KSSPL achieved standalone turnover of Rs. 69,655.55 lakhs and consolidated turnover of Rs. 69,657.99 lakhs. The acquisition aims to expand KSSPL's presence in the Business-to-Government sector and strengthen its foothold in technology and IT-enabled services, particularly surveillance systems and edutech solutions. The transaction was completed on October 6, 2025.
