BSE Issues Investor Warning as RRP Semiconductor Surges 12,500% Amid Social Media Misinformation

Nov 08, 2025The Bombay Stock Exchange warned investors about RRP Semiconductor Ltd following an extraordinary 12,500% stock price increase over the past year, rising from Rs 15 to Rs 11,784 per share since April 2024. The company's price-to-earnings ratio reached 1,410 times compared to the benchmark NSE Nifty 50's 23 times. BSE cited misinformation circulating on social media and uncertainty around recent developments as reasons for the advisory. RRP Semiconductor filed a police complaint against misleading stock recommendations spread illegally on social media platforms. The company also denied any association with former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar or Maharashtra government land allotments. The board is considering withdrawing preferential equity share allotments previously issued to promoters and non-promoters.

False claims on YouTube included that RRP is India's first company to export ASIC chips under government semiconductor mission, has exported orders worth Rs. 6.15 crore, and received a trusted brand tag. The company stated that 99% of its shares are under lock-in until March 31, 2026, and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is not a shareholder. The company reported unprecedented price movement of its shares on BSE due to the misinformation, with only around 4,000 shares in demat mode. RRP requested investigation and action against perpetrators spreading false content that could mislead investors.
RRP Semiconductor's stock price has surged 12,803.35% over 52 weeks, rising from Rs 15 to Rs 10,673 per share between April 2024 and October 2025. The BSE placed the company under Enhanced Surveillance Measures on October 20, stating that the price movement does not align with the company's financials. The stock now trades under a 2% price band with 100% margin requirements and trade-for-trade settlement. The company's price-to-earnings ratio stands at 1,410 times compared to the Nifty 50's 23 times multiple. An unverified rumor linking cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar to the company further fueled the rally, which RRP Semiconductor denied. The company reported revenue of Rs 31.59 crore and net profit of Rs 8.4 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 38 lakh revenue and Rs 1.7 lakh loss in FY24. The stock continued rising 2% to Rs 10,673.85 and remained locked in upper circuit during Thursday's trading session.
