SpiceJet Limited, one of India's leading airlines, has announced a delay in the release of its financial results for the quarter ended June 30. The company will now present its Q1 results on September 5, following a change in its statutory auditors.
Auditor Transition
The delay stems from the resignation of SpiceJet's previous statutory auditors, Walkers Chandiok & Co LLP, effective June 13. This resignation has created a casual vacancy in the company's auditing position. To address this, SpiceJet has proposed the appointment of M/s Kalyaniwalla & Mistry LLP as its new statutory auditors.
Extraordinary General Meeting
SpiceJet has scheduled an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) for September 4, at 11:30 a.m. through video conference. During this meeting, shareholders will vote on the appointment of M/s Kalyaniwalla & Mistry LLP as the new statutory auditors. Chandan Sand, Sr. VP (Legal) & Company Secretary of SpiceJet, stated that upon approval, the new auditors will provide a limited review report for the quarterly results.
Financial Results Announcement
Assuming the appointment is approved at the EGM, the Board of Directors will meet on September 5 to consider and approve the financial results for the quarter ended June 30. These results will be accompanied by the limited review report from the newly appointed auditors.
Trading Window Closure
In compliance with SEBI regulations, SpiceJet has announced that the trading window for dealing in the company's securities will remain closed until September 7. This measure is taken to prevent insider trading during this sensitive period.
Fleet Expansion Plans
In a separate announcement, SpiceJet revealed plans to expand its fleet ahead of the upcoming winter schedule. The airline has finalized lease agreements for five additional Boeing 737 aircraft, bringing its total new fleet additions to 10. These aircraft are expected to join the fleet starting in early October and will remain with the airline until May 2026.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, commented on the fleet expansion: "SpiceJet is fully geared to meet the surge in travel demand for the upcoming winter and early summer seasons. With the induction of these additional Boeing 737s, we are ensuring that our passengers have more choices, greater connectivity, and a reliable, on-time travel experience."
The company is also in advanced discussions to lease more aircraft to further strengthen its fleet for the winter schedule.
As SpiceJet navigates through this period of auditor transition and fleet expansion, investors and stakeholders will be keenly awaiting the Q1 results announcement on September 5 for insights into the airline's financial performance and future outlook.
