Hindustan Zinc Limited appointed Mr. Ashish Chatterjee as Government Nominee Director (Non-Executive) effective July 25, 2025, replacing Ms. Nirupama Kotru. The appointment was made following an order from the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, and was approved by the company's Board of Directors. Mr. Chatterjee, who holds the position of Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Steel, will also serve on the Audit and Risk Management Committee. He is a 1999 batch IAS officer from Tamil Nadu cadre with over 25 years of administrative experience, including previous roles as Government Nominee Director on boards of GAIL, SAIL, and NMDC. Ms. Nirupama Kotru ceased to be a director from the same date, with the Board acknowledging her valuable contributions during her tenure.

Hindustan Zinc Ltd, a Vedanta Group subsidiary, is India's market leader in zinc, lead, and sulphuric acid production. The company operates five zinc-lead mines, four zinc smelters, one lead smelter, one zinc-lead smelter, eight sulphuric acid plants, one silver refinery, six captive thermal power plants, and four captive solar plants in Rajasthan. It also has a rock-phosphate mine near Udaipur and processing facilities in Uttarakhand. The company's operations include wind power plants in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. With a mined metal production capacity of 1.123 Mtpa, Hindustan Zinc's core business comprises mining and smelting of zinc and lead, along with captive power generation. The company's main facilities are located in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, with its headquarters in Udaipur.
